‼️Overheating — Swaddling can also cause overheating, which raises the risk of SIDS.

‼️Rolling over — Once babies show signs of starting to roll over they risk not being able to roll back over and suffocating.

‼️Startle reflex: If your baby’s startle reflex is a thing of the past, it may be time to stop swaddling.

‼️SIDS — Swaddling can increase the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS)

‼️Trouble breathing — Swaddling too tightly around the chest can restrict a baby's ability to breathe deeply.

‼️Suffocation hazards — If swaddled too loosely, a baby could kick out of the swaddle, leaving a loose blanket in the crib, which increases the risk of suffocation and choking.

Additionally, two more things to add — swaddling can affect breastfeeding if babies are prevented from having skin-to-skin contact during feeding.

— swaddling is not safe when co-sleeping.

In my opinion, the risks outweigh the benefits. I swaddled my son for about two weeks before I stopped. I learned more about it and now I don’t plan on swaddling any of my babies in the future.
