Setting Spray: Yay or Nay?

Setting sprays typically contain a blend of water, alcohol, and polymers. The spray forms a thin film over your skin, helping to set your foundation, concealer, and other products. This film can provide a barrier against moisture, preventing your makeup from transferring or fading.

But wait! Before you add this to your shopping list - while setting sprays do work, they may not work that well for individuals with oily skin. The reason lies in the nature of oily skin itself. The excess oil produced by the skin can gradually break down the film created by the setting spray, leading to a loss of its effectiveness.

We just want dewy skin, not oily skin 🥹

The alternative is to use a compact powder to set makeup for oily skin. Unlike setting sprays, compact powders absorb excess oil, helping to control shine and prevent makeup from smudging or fading.
