For travellers with a mid-range budget and looking for AIR CONDITIONED places to dine to beat the sweltering heat, this post is for you.

I visited BKK in May 2023. These are some of the restaurants I would recommend to have authentic Thai cuisine. They are all relatively spacious so it is ok even if you did not make a reservation, but do avoid peak timings. 💰 Price wise are all ~20SGD per pax, super reasonable for the quality of food.

1. KungThong Seafood - Kungthong Seafood

I was brought here by locals and it proved to be one of my best meals here. Located at the heart of Bangkok along Rama 4, it is relatively easy to get to via Grab. All the dishes are bursting with flavours but the spices are STRONG.

🥥 Dishes to order: deep fried seabass with fish sauce (da best), crab meat in curry, tomyum soup.

2. Baan Ying - Baan Ying Isan & Grill, Floor 3

Couple of outlets in malls so it is extremely convenient to get to. I went to the CentralWorld outlet at ChitLom, opposite Big C. They were around since 1999 and the food is so homely and comforting.

🥥 Dishes to order: spiced minced pork salad, river prawns in tamarind sauce, deep fried chicken wings.

3. Methavalai Sorndaeng -Methavalai Sorndaeng

A little more far out, (near the democracy monument) but so worth it. This restaurant is one of the original Thai fine dining restaurants, and with one Michelin star. Dishes are traditional and timeless, and staff are attentive.

🥥 Dishes to order: crispy rice noodles in sweet and sour sauce, crab meat and acacia red curry, fish cakes and crab cakes (like otah).
