Here are some things I am currently doing to improve my pace! At the end of the day pace does NOT matter but I have goals to achieve and I am determined to get there!

1. Taking easy runs easy:

I set a pace I want to be my easy runs and by doing that I am not running my easy runs easy therefore I am just making my legs more tired and it takes longer to recover. I also won’t be able to give my all on my speed runs because my legs won’t be as fresh. So, I am no longer going to look at my pace but just go off on how I feel and try to keep my heart rate around the 140-150 range!

2. Running with friends:

Running can be very mental and it’s so much easier to give up or slow down if you are by yourself! I like running with friends or doing a run club where people that are faster than me can help push me past those mental blocks. It will truly surprise you because you can do so much more than your brain thinks you can.

3. Doing speed runs:

This is so important and this is what is going to help get you faster! I will give this my 110% effort and try to incorporate all the different kinds of speed runs to help diversify things. I need my legs to be fresh this day so that way I can truly give it my all! Always make sure to start with a warm up and cool down as well!

4. Cross training and strength training:

This is so important! You need to gain muscle and by doing this it will also help you prevent injuries. Cross training can involve swimming or biking or Pilates. Strength training you should be doing full body or upper and lower body splits!

5. Being consistent and having fun:

it all comes down to consistency. You get better after each run you do whether you know it or not! You need to keep showing up for yourself even on the days you don’t want to! Overtime you will naturally get better! Having fun with the journey is so important! I love running and I never want it to become a chore or something I dread doing! I did that with lifting and that caused me to get super burnt out and just not love it like I used to anymore.#lemon8partner #fitnessjourney #runner #runningtips #beginnerrunnertips #runningmotivation
