How I got to know my main character 🥰

I started with the basics. Her age, ethnicity, and occupation. Then fleshed out her personality, her quirks, her fears, her interests, things she is good at and things she is not. The inspiration for these came from my own life, my friends and family, people I’ve observed, and other characters I’ve liked in books and movies.

I don’t think I will incorporate every point in my novel, but writing down all these features and dimensions to her has helped me build a persona. Then based on that, I know who she is as a person and I can better write how she would realistically act throughout the novel.
