Best Dressed of Met Gala 2024

This year’s Met Gala was held in honor of The Met’s newest exhibit - “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion”. This exhibit features clothing garments that are too fragile and important to be worn/displayed outside of a museum. The dress code for this year’s event was - “The Garden of Time”. Based on this, I was anticipating two possible interpretations of the theme:

(1) New interpretations of well-known cuturally iconic looks or historically relevant couture fashion

-OR-

(2) Nature-inspired looks with elements of periodic fashion or social commentary on the future (playing into the “Time” aspect)

Based on sheer “wow factor” along with adhearance to theme, these are my TOP FIVE LOOKS IN ORDER:

1. Tyla in custom Balmain (“The Sands of Time”)

2. Nicki Minaj in custom Marni

3. Mona Patel in Iris Van Herpen

4. Kendall Jenner in archival Alexander McQueen for Givenchy Couture (1999)

5. Mindy Kaling in Gaurav Gupta
