Wedding Costs Breakdown 💸

Hollo Everyone! It’s been 5 months since my wedding and posting on lemon8, sharing all these tips and info. But i realized I did not share the breakdown so here it is! (refer to pict 3 & 4)

We spent a grand total of $58,013.48 #eatgrass

So as we all know getting married is one of the milestones in life that will spend most of your money. #nomoneynohoney But I am glad that my hubs and I managed to afford all of this on our own with some planning.

Here are some tips:

1. Spread out your runway over “x” amount of months. For our case, it was about 8 months and we started to lock in on most items as early as we could, before the GST hike! (7%>8%) Mainly items like our 4 点金, banquet and local bridal which were the bulk of the wedding costs.

2. DIY! I have probably waited half of my life to be able DIY for my own wedding and yes this portion saved us quite a bit in terms of flowers, deco and table gifts. Taobao, Telegram & Carousell will be your best friends to find good steals from graduated brides!

3. Prudent mindset - both hubby and I have a common mindset that everything should be kept to a minimum like deco, additional gifts for guests, photo gallery etc. Guests do not remember all these at all…🌝 I do not even remember what colour theme was the flowers on the tables. So definitely good idea not paying an additional 1-2k or more on deco. Instead, we channeled this amount to catering sumptious buffets for our family on GDL and the actual day so that no one goes hungry.🐸

Key Pointers to note:

> As part of the dowry, we gave 10 tables to my parents so naturally the angpows went to them, so not included in our statement of accounts.🐸

> We did spend quite a fair bit on the 四点金 because gurl here loves her gold so 💸.

> We printed about 4-5 photos on foam boards for display on the easels ($40) and flashed more of the photos during our video.

> We definitely could have saved more but we also prioritized the comforts of our family. (catered 1 additional suite for family to stayover after a long day)
