🎤 The 1975 Concert 🎸

📍 Sands Expo® and Convention Centre, Level B2

Its been about 1.5 months since my first ever concert experience. I attended “The1975: At Their Very Best Tour” concert which was held on the 18th of July at Sands Expo® and Convention Centre, Level B2, Hall E & F!

Looking back at the photos and recordings from that day, it hit home a little different and brought back so much emotions and memories felt from that day 🥺

About Me 😵‍💫:

I was never someone who understood the hype about artists concerts and could never get myself to attend one. The thought of the crowd, having to “fight” for tickets, long queue hours always leaves me to not want to attend a concert. Being an introvert I also always thought that being in a space with so many people sounded very uncomfortable. But I WAS WRONG 😳

How I landed myself to decide to get tickets 🤔:

When I first heard that The1975 was coming to Singapore I thought this was the chance for me to experience what it was like to attend a concert in real life. I was never a huge enough fan of any band to transit myself from the comfort of Spotify and a humble pair of headphones listening to experiencing an entire concert on its own. As an avid listener of the1975 I thought that if I wanted to experience a concert ever, this would be the opportunity! Soon enough I found myself getting tickets for it and then attending it altogether 🎫

Hearing about horror stories from concert goers I didn’t expect much attending this. Just the usual stereotype of long queues, messy crowds and a lot of pushing. But surprisingly, when I arrived with 2 of my other friends at the venue, the queue was very well managed. There was a holding area well organised and spearheaded by the crew from MBS and that really helped smoothen the process to the main concert venue and avoid “unfair” and “unethical” acts of pushing or cutting of queue which was apparently quite common. There were the bag checks and soon enough within about 15mins after leaving the holding area we were in to the concert hall itself! I was in awe at how huge the venue was. Surprisingly, my friends and I got quite close to the front and with plenty of space inbetween us and the other goers we were in our own little comfortable area and got to enjoy ourselves throughout the whole night! The setlist was about approximately 1.5 hours and I genuinely had fun. Considering this was mt first ever concert, I WOULD RATE IT A 10/10 💯!! The1975 was here in Singapore for 2 days and both days had slight variations in their setlist which I found was quite a nice touch!

Post Concert Thoughts 💭:

Thinking about it now, actually going for a concert isn’t all as scary as I thought of it to be. It broke my idea of bubble that “Spotify and headphones is enough for me” thinking and I could finally understand why concerts are a whole different thing 🤩 The artist interactions, vibes, soaking in the live music and watching your favourite band or artist in real life is a whole different ball game and experience on its own.

All I can say is that, this wouldn’t be my last concert and I can’t wait for my next experience at a concert. Hopefully it’ll be as smooth and breathtaking as this one 💙🤍
