Hi guys, I’m back from exam week! I took a few days to rest and get prepared for the new semester, but finally glad to post again.

As promised, I mentioned in a previous post about getting ready for the first day, and that I would follow up on briefly emailing your professors. I have done this since undergrad and though it is not to give me an A in the class, emailing first puts me on the right track to do well in the class. Here a few things on how to structure your student greeting emails—

💭Content: As you start off your email, you want to introduce yourself by your preferred Name, Classification/Year of Study, and the specific course name/number. Professors are typically balancing 2-3 courses a semester, so the only way to stand out is to be yourself!

📝Length/Tone: You do NOT have to write a paper! Keep it short and sweet, but obviously get your point across. You want to be respectful of the professors’ time—plus you have the whole semester to get to know them. Make sure to double check your spelling, punctuation, and grammar.

⭐Bonus: Add a signature! I currently use Outlook and at the bottom of every email is my full name and pronouns, classification/department, and university affiliation. This is just a personal preference to make sure my recipient is conscious of spelling my name correctly!

Hope this helps and I wish you the very best this school year! :)
