How to reject without saying NO!

Growing up, my parents taught me the importance of knowing your boundaries and learning how to say no. 🙅🏻‍♀️

But as I mature, I began to realise the importance of learning how to reject INSTEAD of simply saying no, especially when it’s in the form of doing business or declining a friend’s request.

Let’s be real, nobody likes the idea of rejection, much less face it. (Unless NO is the outcome you are looking for)

So why not make our lives easier, and make rejections more palatable? (Esp if you are a people pleaser, and there’s nothing wrong with that)

@MrMoneyJar made it really simple with the sandwich theory application - mixing “good” sentences with “bad” ones.

1️⃣ Show appreciation

- i really appreciate you for …

- thank you so much for …

- I’m really thankful for …

2️⃣ State rejection

- unfortunately i have to turn down …

- unfortunately i’m unable to make it …

- unfortunately i’m unable to commit …

3️⃣ do a redirection

- but i wouldn’t mind …

- but i would love to …

- but i would be open …

W the sandwich theory, you can literally apply it to anything! From rejecting someone’s confession to birthday / even wedding invitations. ✨
