What I Did This Friday

My little sister is turning 19 so with the help of my mama, we prepped and decorated her cupcakes and cake!!!

Her and I both loved watching Max and Ruby growing up, so when I saw someone make Ruby’s cake on Pinterest, I knew this was what I wanted to do for her this year.

Ruby’s cake is a 2 tier strawberry cake with strawberry icing for the pink portion and the yellow is a buttercream frosting. I am terrible at piping I am not a baker so my mom and I thought it would be easier to buy sugared hearts and stars than attempt to pipe it on. We found some butterflies too which we added in which I feel adds a nice touch.

For Max’s cupcakes we went with a dark dark chocolate batter and a chocolate fudge icing. It’s topped off with crushed oreo pieces, gummy worms, and sugared leaves.

I have a small family so I thought making 2 cakes would be too much. At least this way we could give away the cupcakes to neighbors or friends since they’re easier to package.

Michael’s really came through on this one though the majority of stuff wasn’t purchased at michael’s, that’s where we found the sugared candies in the shapes of hearts, stars, butterflies, and leaves. They had so many other options as well so if you’re looking for something similar, I recommend checking out your local Michael’s!!
